Commissioned Counselling

Commissioned counselling is where a third party pays the counselling fees, this can be an employer, a GP or other health professional or a particular fund that is designated to help a particular group of people e.g. the Suffolk Police Crime commisioners fund for victims of a crime.

Fees for Commissioned Counselling are detailed in the specific contract that is negotiated at the outset.

There are various additional issues when you have a third party involved. Number of sessions is often stipulated, confidentiality may be affected if any reporting is required and additional evaluation, to assess the effectiveness of the therapy, may be needed. These issues will be discussed and agreed with the client at the outset of therapy.
